Introduction to Knitting Sweaters

In this class you will learn the basics of sweater knitting and construction. You will make a sweater that is worked seamlessly in the round from the top down. You cast on at the neckline and the yoke is shaped by raglan increases to the underarm. Sleeve sts are placed on hold on waste yarn, the body is completed, then sleeves are worked last.

Date/Time: Wednesdays from 3:30pm-5:00pm, 4 sessions: 10/29, 11/6, 11/12, 11/19

Materials:

  • Flax Worsted Sweater pattern by Tin Can Knits (available for free on Ravelry)

  • Worsted Weight Yarn for your size 

  • US 6 and US 8 circular needles

 

Skill Level: Completion of Knit 2, or the ability to knit and purl in the round and comfort with increasing and decreasing

 

Homework:  Please come to the first class with your pattern and yarn selected and your swatch knit. We’ll give you swatching instructions when you select your yarn.
