Introduction to Sock Knitting

In this class, you will make house socks, suitable for padding around the house and keeping your feet warm at night.  You will learn how to knit in the round on two circulars, how to achieve a good fit, short row heels, picking up stitches, the Kitchener stitch, and how to add interesting stitch patterns to your socks.

Date/Time:  Wednesdays from 1pm-3pm; 4 sessions10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19

Materials: 

  • ~180 yds wool/nylon blend DK weight yarn

  • 2 24” (or shorter) US03 circular needles; 1 with stainless steel tips, 1 with bamboo tips

  • tape measure

  • Pattern will be provided in the first class

 

Skill level: Completion of Knit 2 or the ability to do the long tail or cable cast on, decrease, and work in the round
